Japanese Worker Attitudes: A Key Factor in Productivity

The prosperity of a nation and the welfare of its people depends to a large extent on the degree of development achieved by the bulk of the industries that support the nation's economy. This in turn is dependent on indigenous natural resources and factors internal to the individual corporate enterprises taking part in the nation's economic activity. A spirit of enterprising forwardness within these enterprises can only occur if the individual members are made to feel personally involved and keen to implement what is proposed by management. Elements of human character conducive to the enhancement of corporate productivity are a flexible sense of involvement in duties, an enterprising forwardness in doing these duties and considerate attentiveness to fellow team members. These attributes are mutually and inseparably inter‐related and are essential for all members of a corporate organisation, from top management downwards.
