Prediction of Hydrodynamic Performance on Propeller by an Improved Surface Panel Method

An improved surface panel method was used to predict the hydrodynamic performance of propeller. The surface of propeller and hub were mashed by a number of small hyperbolic quadrilateral panels with constant source distribution. The camber surface and trailing vortex surface were also represented by a number of small panels with vortex distribution. The strength of the singularities was obtained by boundary conditions at the control points, then the pressure distribution and open water characteristics of propeller are got.By comparison, the results were in satisfactory agreement with experimental data.
