MEASUREMENT OF PERCENT CARBOXYHEMOGLOBI N

Computer simulations based on the photon diffusion theory are carried out to analyze the fea­ sibility of measuring the percent carboxyhemo­ globin (%HbCO) using pulse-oximetry technique. A series of in vitro experiIllents using a luechan­ ical pulser to simulate the pumping effect of the heart are performed. Both the theoretical and the experimental data shows that the pulse-oximetry technique using multiple wavelengths can be ap­ plied for the measurement of %HbCO.
