Blind noise suppression decorrelating multiuser detector for reverse link in multipath DS-CDMA systems

In the multipath CDMA reverse link, the base station knows the signature waveforms of users within its cell, but has no knowledge of channel coefficients of different users. In this paper, we propose a subspace-based blind noise suppression decorrelating multiuser detector making full use of estimated noise subspace and signature sequences of different users. This subspace blind detection approach has the advantages that it does not need the training sequences and channel coefficients of all users. The proposed blind multiuser detection technique offers substantial performance gain over the conventional Rake receivers with channel coefficients and has better performance when compared with the subspace-based blind detectors with known channel coefficients in Wang et al. (1998), in a multipath CDMA reverse link environment.
