COMMUTATION MODES OF A CURRENT-SOURCE INVERTER

ABSTRACT The limits of stability of a variable-speed drive using an asynchronous machine fed by a controlled current-source inverter are investigated and confirmed by experiment. The stable range can be divided into three modes of commutation, which are single-, double- and multiple commutation. Calculated convertor voltages and currents for the three modes are shown. On the basis of single commutation mode the design for the convertor is developed.
