A Concept For The Simulation Of Sar Data

This paper discusses a modular concept for the simulation of Synthetic Aperture Radar ( SAR ) imaging data with special consideration of orbitally based SAR systems operating in the X-band. It describes the formation of raw data of an X-band SAR, furthermore a concept and possible implementation of a model based data generator and simulator. The related and correlated problems are roughly sliced into three partitions: a) Developing of appro riate models for the objects under investigation $ere planetary surfaces with hei ht and angle dependent back scattering propertie$ Desdription of the SAR sensor and the carrier platform ( problems arising especially for the GermanItalian X-SAR mission flown on Space Shuttle because of instationary attitude errors, non uniform motion of the SAR sensor in the surrounding b)
