Cu(II) Anchored on Modified Magnetic Nanoparticles: As a Green and Efficient Recyclable Nano Catalyst for One Pot Synthesis of 12-Aryl-8,9,10,12tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthene-11-oneʺ

Abstract Cu(II) immobilized on Fe3O4@APTMS-DFX nanoparticles as a magnetically recyclable heterogeneous catalyst was synthesized and characterized by various techniques such as FT-IR, TGA, Sem- EDX, VSM, ICP, and XRD. The catalyst was demonstrated a superior catalytic activity towards the green one-pot synthesis of 12-aryl-8,9,10,12 tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthene-11-one via the three-component reactions among of aromatic aldehyde, 2-naphthol and dimedone under solvent free condition. Efficient transformation, mild reaction conditions, easy product isolation, the potential recycled for six runs without appreciable leaching of copper from the surface of the catalyst, absence of any volatile and hazardous organic solvents and importantly, the catalyst was separated easily by using an external magnet are attractive method features.
