Concord is a common syntactic feature especially of synthetic languages which present a variety of morphological shapes signifying the syntactic function of words: number, gender, and case in nouns and adjectives, tense and aspect as well as number and person in verbs, etc. Those who studied Latin in school are all too familiar with the phenomenon, and its importance in disambiguating phrases like Horace’s opening line
