An Augmented Basic Program for Exploring Subtest Combination Short Forms

Abbreviated scales often involve administering a subset of tests from the full scale, and then using the obtained score to estimate the score which would have been obtained if the entire scale had been administered. Tellegen and Briggs (1967) provided formulae for determining and reliabilities, validities, and standard deviations of this type of short form. Atkinson and Yoshida (1989) described a BASIC program for making the requisite reliability and validity calculations. This article reports an augmented program which includes computation of standard deviations.
