A Study of the Seal System's Influence on the Vibration of A Certain Compressor

By means of numerical analysis, the influence of the seal system on certain compressor's rotor is studied in this paper. It is found that seals have great influence on the vibration of the rotor. Whether the seals will cause the rotor self-excited vibration, it is mainly determined by the rotor speed, as well as the cross-coupled stiffness coefficient and the direct damping coefficient of the seals. The self-excited vibration of the rotor will take place, only when the rotor speed reaches a certain value and the cross-couple stiffness has a greater influence than the direct damping coefficient at the same time. The seals on different blades have different influence on the vibration of the rotor, and the seal on the middle blade has the most obvious influence on the rotor.
