Interaction between Complexity, Quality and Cognitive Automation

Today’s assembly systems are adapting to the increased mass customisation. This means shorter cycle times, more variants and a more complex environment for the operators. An industrial case study has been performed in order to describe relations between complexity, quality and cognitive automation. This article use quantitative methods to describe the complex environment. This is done in order to create a better understanding for the importance of using cognitive automation as an enabler in order to create a more competitive assembly system for the future.
