C-band digitally controlled variable gain amplifier design

This paper presents the simulation results of the C-band digitally controlled variable gain amplifier (VGA) which is implemented in 0.18 μm SiGe BiCMOS technology. VGA provides digital 5-bit discrete gain control in the range from 0 to −31 dB with 1 dB step. Noise figure is less than 18 dB. Power consumption is 17.25 mW. The simulation of the VGA shows absolute gain error <0.6 dB in bandwidth 4–6 GHz with absolute phase error <5.4°.
