Messaging plays a central role in the development of distributed object-oriented systems. It is supported by the specification of the Java Message Service (JMS) and CORBA's Notification Service (CNS). In this paper we introduce the design and implementation of a bridge that enables message passing between applications based on JMS and CNS, respectively. We describe or design goals, elaborate on the problems that had to be solved, and cover various details of our implementation. The flexibility and extensive means to configure the bridge enable users to employ it in a large variety of applications.
