Feed Rate Optimization for 5-Axis NC Machining of Huge Lamina

A feed rate optimization algorithm, ensuring constant cutting volume, is proposed in this paper. This algorithm can reduce the variation of the cutting force caused by uneven distribution of the part stock, and optimize the feed rate during calculation of the cutter location and generation of the NC codes. In practice, using this algorithm can increase the work efficiency of the huge lamina's 5 axis NC machining, reduce the tool's abrasion, and improve the machining quality of the surface.
