Extending the capabilities of the human visual system: an introduction to enhanced reality

This article describes the authors' interpretation of the migration of tools in virtual reality from discrete to integrated.. Working in the areas of machine vision and engineering design, the authors believe that a subset of virtual reality has great potential to augment human performance, Enhanced reality systems relying on annotated image processing of realtime video represent an identifiable area of research. The article is intended to promote the concept and study of enhanced reality.
