The Relative Rates of Reaction of Hydrogen and Tritium Hydride with Chlorine

The ratio of the specific rate constant for H2 to that for HT in the photo‐chemical reaction with chlorine has been determined at four temperatures and is represented by R=(1.35±0.03) exp{(552±7)/RT} to within about 0.3 percent. The ratio is found to be the same when the reaction is initiated by the tritium β‐particles. The data are considered from the viewpoint of the theory of absolute reaction rates.
