Student vs. Search Engine: Undergraduates Rank Results for Relevance

This study investigated six popular search engines to determine their effectiveness in returning results relevant to college students' information needs. Though the search engines generally performed poorly, a lack of computer skills and an inability to construct appropriate search statements limited students' success.
