Nanocubes and Nanoboxes

Nanotechnology applications will require highly accurate, reproducible methods for making nanoparticles of specific size and shape. In her Perspective, Murphy highlights the report by Sun and Xia, who report a promising synthesis route that yields silver nanocubes and gold nanoboxes with well-defined crystallographic surfaces. The method allows the sizes of the structures to be tuned.
