On the longevity of Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus in petioles of Fraxinus excelsior.

Summary Air-dried pseudosclerotia produced by the ash dieback pathogen Hymenoscyphus pseudoalbidus (anamorph: Chalara fraxinea) can survive up to 3 months. Under field conditions, they are capable of postponing fructification for 1 year. The implications of this observation for epidemiology and control of ash dieback are discussed.
