A real-time automated arrhythmia detection system

The authors present the design of a real-time automated arrhythmia detection system using five diagnostic variables; heart rate, QRS width, morphology, axis deviation, and ST segment. This system is based on a 16-bit microcomputer and includes a bandpass filter, ECG amplifier, QRS detector, 12-bit A/D converter, preprocessor, and main processor. The arrhythmias obtained from two types of ECG simulators and 50 patients were analyzed using analog hardware and software algorithms, and results are given.<<ETX>>
