This writing has the aim to describe the concepts used by Sigmund Freud to recapture concrete major aspects of the philosophical studies about the metaphysics of will, of Arthur Schopenahuer, the philosopher of pessimism. The importance of this review takes root in the fact that modern societies have abstracted the Freudian notions of Eros and sexuality which, in many of the cases, have molded the way of conceiving both sexual and couple relationships, and psychology as a university subject. It is necessary to know how Freud’s work is supported, in many of its arguments, on the work of the German pessimism genius, specifically and unthinkably on the concepts of will and representation.
