Object-oriented hypermodeling of hypertext supported information systems

The success of hypertext is measured by its impact on the design of information systems and not by the number of stand-alone hypertext systems. The results of the use of an object-oriented database for a hypertext-based system have led to the cross breeding of object-orientation and hypertext. This provides both the rigorous infrastructure and modeling abilities of object-orientation and at the same time the flexibility and navigational information access characterized by hypertext. This method of integrating hypertext into an information system is termed object-oriented hypermodeling.<<ETX>>
