Electromechanical railgun model

The electromechanical aspects of railgun motion are modeled analytically. A Lagrangian formulation is used to obtain the force and circuit equations, which are then solved for energy conservation and resistive flux decay. The resulting integral equation is solved for the barrel length as a measure of the launcher size and cost. The solution for a lossy railgun with multiple conductors (augmented case) is explained, and energy recovery is discussed. >
