Laryngeal mask airway‐guided fiberoptic tracheal intubation in a 1200‐gm infant with difficult airway

previously reported, we believe that many of our colleagues are facing this problem. A simple technique to reduce the kinking is to form a loop of sampling tube adjacent to the sampling port and to tape it to the angle piece connection (Figure 2). This protects the junction of sampling tube and angle piece from any kinking in much the same way as loops made in epidural catheters prevent kinking (2). Care should be taken not to make the loop too long or too short which also may allow kinking of a line. Our technique substantially reduces the occurrence of sampling tube occlusion and thereby ensures that we are not deprived of vital intraoperative monitoring information.
