Detection of the Engine Valves Chocking Using the Pressure Curves Analysis of the Cold Test Stands

The cold test stand is a testing station that is built to analyze the engine functionality during the production phase. The engine testing is based on passively driving it through an electrical drive while recording the feedback signal from various transducers installed for testing various physical properties. The purpose of these sensors is to testify the engine static and dynamic properties such as the intake and exhaust pressures of each cylinder, the crankshaft position, the rotation speed and the output torque produced. The expected signals are mapped using a master engine that is identified as a fully operational unit, and these signals are employed to identify any signal abnormalities in the production line queue. This paper investigates the difference between defected exhaust valves signal compared to the healthy ones and the suspected causes behind it.
