Abstract : A modified version of the IRM-02 (MIFI) microtesting machine was developed for mechanical tests of vertically positioned microspecimens. The machine serves to determine the following mechanical characteristics: ultimate strength, yield point, proportional limit, tensile strength, relative elongation, and relative reduction in area. Its principal elements are: (1) table equipped with an electric motor and reducing gear; (2) base, with columns and electric heating furnace; (3) loading assembly; (4) dynamometric mechanism, (5) heater unit; (6) vacuum systems; (7) cooling system: (8) control panel with thermometric and metrological accessories. Maximum loading 1000 kg; maximum required power 2 kva; test time per specimen 30-35 min; dimensions of machine -- length 1.5 m, width 0.88 mm, height 1.6 mm. The load applied is automatically recorded with the aid of a slidewire pickup and an EPP-09 type electronic potentiometer. Tests carried out with the aid of this machine demonstrated the reliability and stability of performance of the entire installation. (Author)
