언어 입력 강화를 위한 전자칠판 활용 교수-학습 모형 개발

Interactive White Board (IWB) has been supplied to language classrooms in a large scale in relatively short amount of time, but necessary teaching and learning models for IWB classes have not been developed to accommodate the speedy supplies of IWBs to the school system. This study aims to develop a teaching-learning model using IWB in elementary English education. To this end, needs analysis was made for 76 elementary school teachers who had used IWB in English classes via questionnaires. A meta-analysis of researches on the language input enhancement was also conducted to investigate the effect sizes of the classroom based experiments. Based on the survey result and the meta-analysis, a teaching and learning model for IWB was developed in accordance with national curriculum in its characteristics, objectives, content, method and evaluation. The current teaching and learning model was applied in IWB classroom and noted for the positive effect of using IWB as an input enhancement device. This study suggested an IWB-based teaching and learning model of English with particular reference to looking at IWB as an effective language input enhancement device which can be appropriated to the EFL circumstance in Korea. In addition, sample teaching plans were provided to enable the teachers to implement the language input enhancement techniques in classes using IWB. The study shows a possibility that IWB could be used as effective teaching-learning instrument if it’s appropriately used. To make IWB an effective teaching tool, it’s suggested that IWB-based English materials should be more supplied, and a community is called for teachers to develop and share the contents and activities for IWB classes.
