Abstract A hybrid structure that uses steel and concrete combined together is a very efficient system. However, there exists the problem of creep and shrinkage. This problem is very complicated and difficult to solve when the structure is statically indeterminate and a member section consists of several different components. This paper proposes the practical method to deal with such a problem, and reports some examples applied to the models of actual hybrid structures in Japan.
