A wavelet transform based analysis of vibration signals from a solar array with clearance

A wavelet transform technique was developed to analyze the dynamic parameters in measured vibration signals from deployable structures with clearance which can not be analyzed with fast Fourier transforms. The acceleration of the sign point was analyzed to study the changes caused by various clearances in the deployed and folding configurations. The results show that the wavelet transform can obtain the time-frequency domain information, the frequency band, the attenuation velocity and the attenuation time of different frequencies. The results provide precise measurements of the dynamics characteristics of the space deployable structure in the time-frequency domain, which are helpful for improving the system analysis and design.
