Family Welfare Policies in Iran, Comparative Study of Development Programs

Introduction: Family has a critical role in societies. In most of societies, in response to the development and industrialization, the nature of family has changed. Nowadays family issues become priorities to governments’ policy making, because of these changes and family’s increasing needs. Because of deficit information and documentation in this issue and complicated concept of welfare, it’s necessary to study family policies in Iran to use it in policy planning and decision making. Aims: The paper review the history of family welfare policies in Iran to assess their strengths and weakness and indicate key points for future planning. Methodology: Current study is documentary research and used content analysis. In the research about 28 main documentaries have reviewed. Results: There wasn’t any specific plan budget about family welfare in none of Development Programs of before and after the Islamic Revolution except Forth Plan before revolution. Conclusions: It is concluded that family welfare isn’t an independent issue in policies and planning. So there should be a comprehensive and non-pathological approach to family in future policies and also it’s necessary to appoint an institution to supervise and monitor the family
