Micro-GA based fuzzy logic controllers for co-ordinated FACTS control

A systematic fuzzy logic based damping control system design for TCSC and UPFC is proposed to enhance the power system stability spectrum. Firstly, the fuzzy membership functions and control rules are extracted based on recorded or monitored signals. Then, a novel "grandparenting" technique is employed to incorporate the non-optimal fuzzy logic controllers in micro-GA (/spl mu/-GA) to search for optimal fuzzy membership functions and rules simultaneously. Simulation studies have been carried out to show the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed damping control strategy in a multi-machine power system setup.
