Integratable 3-Bit all-Optical Spectral Quantization Scheme Using a Horizontal Slot Silicon Waveguide-Based Si Nanocrystals

In this paper, we propose an integratable all-optical quantization scheme with 3-bit quantization resolution based on soliton self-frequency shift (SSFS) technique in a horizontal slot silicon waveguide filled with Si nanocrystals. The high nonlinear coefficient of 1346.71W^-1/m at 1550nm and large anomalous dispersion regime of 600 nm can be achieved based on the proposed silicon waveguide structure. With the initial peak power of 7.0 W, the wavelength shifts up to 266 nm can be gained in the 5 cm long silicon waveguide. 6-bit quantization resolution can be obtained when a spectral compression module is used.
