Predictive Computing: A Technical Insight

Rapid advancement in networking capabilities, enhancement in data storage and the data collection capacity and techniques are exponentially expanding across all multidisciplinary sciences, research communities and engineering domains. It also includes physical, biological and biomedical sciences. Predictive computing provides the way by which these technologies can be interconnected with each other and allows extracting of information from existing datasets; database, etc. To make prediction in real-time or near real-time context, successful implementation of predictive models and predictive computing techniques can effectively interpret big data and intelligently changes the existing business scenario in the particular domain. In this chapter, we have presented a design architecture of predictive computing that includes various steps for designing a predictive model. Presented e-Transportation model follows these steps for predicting the shortest navigational path with less traffic congestion on road. Finally, various predictive computing algorithms have been discussed that can be implemented to make accurate and effective predictions for the given domain scenario.
