Worldwide survey on chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (CDD) and dibenzofuran (CDF) analysis capability

Abstract A comprehensive survey was conducted of laboratories engaged in chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxin (CDD) and dibenzofuran (CDF) analysis. Fifty-five laboratories replied to the survey, including most well-known research groups in the field. It is clear from the survey that CDF analysis has increased in importance, as has the determination of all congener groups. Many different extraction, cleanup and instrumental techniques are being used to examine virtually every type of environmental sample. Part-per-trillion (10 −12 g/g) limits of detection are routinely achieved in difficult samples. Most laboratories were not pleased with the range of standards commercially available, although a number of new products have recently been announced.
