ANALYSIS OF MAGLEV VEHICLE DYNAMICS IN RESPONSE TO GUIDEWAY IRREGULARITIES

A numerical simulation involving on-ground levitation coils and on-board superconducting magnets (SCMs) of the JR EDS Maglev system has been carried out based on the principle of total magnetic flux conservation. Influence of bogie pitching motion on vertical oscillations has been examined, and pitching appeared as a source of positive damping for the vertical motion. Then dynamic characteristics have been investigated in response to guideway irregularities that have been modeled as vertical and lateral sine variations in the positioning of the ground coil series. Conclusions of this study allowed us to introduce a method that transforms lateral irregularities into equivalent, vertical irregularities of similar impact.
