Tuberculosis of the Oral Cavity and Associated Structures: The PGIMER Experience

Extrapulmonary tuberculosis of the oral cavity and its associatedstructures are diagnostic challenge. It is often misdiagnosedby the attending dentist who is the first among clinicians tocome across such pathological entity. Lesions are often slowgrowing and painless and hence are initially neglected. Tubercularosteomyelitis of the jaw bone is a common occurrence indeveloping countries like India and often these cases firstappear in dental out-patient clinic. The purpose of this paper isto highlight the involvement of oral and maxillofacial structureswith few case reports and their concurrent diagnostic procedures.
