Performance management is the integration of performance appraisal systems with broader human re- source systems as a means of aligning employees' work behavior with the organization's goals. Performance management should be an ongoing, interactive process designed to enhance employee capability and facilitate productivity. It is true that universities are able to respond to the challenges of the changing higher education environment and the effective management of performance at organizational, institutional and individual level is therefore critical to success.
