Modelling and control of a new DC-side nonlinear series-type switching filter

This paper presents the analysis, modelling, and control of a new series-type hysteresis-controlled nonlinear high-frequency switching filter for the DC-side of AC/DC converters. The concept and principle of operation of the new DC-side nonlinear filter are described. System design equations are developed to model the relationship among circuit variables. A multi-loop closed-loop control is proposed to regulate the load current. The salient features of the proposed filter type are the reduced filter converter rating, and the reduced size of passive elements required. All analysis and control system design are verified with simulation.
