Cross-Layer Scheduling and Power Control in Cognitive Radio Networks

Cognitive radio is a promising technology, which can alleviate the problem of crowded bandwidth resource with low spectral efficiency. In this paper, we present a cross-layer approach for joint link scheduling and power control in cognitive radio networks, in order to make more efficient use of system resources. The principle behind this algorithm is to find a transmission scenario in which the network throughput is enhanced without excessive transmit powers. Simulation results are presented to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
