The finnish IEA Task 13 experimental building in Pietarsaari : Completed results

The Finnish experimental house for IEA Task 13 'Advanced Solar Low Energy Buildings' was built in 1994 for the annual housing fair held in Pietarsaari (latitude 62°). The aim of the IEA5 Solar House was to reduce the consumption of purchased energy to as low a level as possible by utilizing new technology and solar energy. Good indoor climate and comfortable living conditions were set as requirements for the design. The results from a two-year monitoring project showed that the total consumption of purchased energy is about 25% of the consumption of an average Finnish detached house. The heating energy consumption of the house was about 10% of the consumption of the reference.
