Simulation analysis of carrying capacity of tunnel cable in different laying ways

Abstract IEC calculation and simulation analysis are two common methods for cable current rating calculation now. In fact, IEC calculation is based on the numerical value and the engineering formula or approximate formula for experimental result, it brings that IEC calculation couldn’t solve the problem for complex environment. As long as the model is correct and the method is proper, simulation analysis can solve many problems. It is complex to calculate the current rating of cables in tunnel, in this paper, COMSOL Multiphysics software was used to calculate the current rating of tunnel cable, and some factors (include cable laying status, cable laying position and tunnel cross section) affecting the results of cable current rating calculation were analyzed, in order to find the guidance for tunnel building and cable laying.
