APPLICATION OF WIRELESS COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN REMOTE SUPERVISION SYSTEM FOR INSULATORS

In the remote supervision system for insulators, there are three modes to transmit data, the first one is the radio frequency (RF) relaying transmission mode, the second one is short messaging service (SMS) transmission based on global system for mobile communication (GSM) mode and the third one is the combination of above mentioned modes. As a most widely applied mode, to realize the high efficient and reliable transmission of data in long link circuit under bad communi-cation channel condition, the RF relaying transmission should be improved in both two aspects, i.e., the hardware and the protocol, on the basis of conscientiously analyzing the channel model. It is proved in practice that using the improved system the communication time can be shortened to one fifteenth of its original time and the bit error rate is reduced too. The presented technology can be applied to on-line remote supervisions of other equipments in power systems.
