Proceedings of the 2nd International Workshop on Environmental Multimedia Retrieval

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to the 2nd International Workshop on Environmental Multimedia Retrieval (EMR2015) held within ICMR2015, in Shanghai, China. The goal of EMR workshop is threefold. First, the workshop aims at presenting the most recent methods for analysis, interpretation, classification and retrieval of environmental information and life species encoded as multimedia. Second, it aims at bringing together practitioners and researchers, both from multimedia and environmental domain, to share ideas and experiences in designing and implementing novel multimedia analysis techniques and tools for environmental applications. Third, the workshop aims at evaluating the efficiency of multimedia retrieval techniques for realistic environmental applications. In total the Program Committee of EMR2015 accepted 6 papers covering a variety of topics structured in three sessions: a) life species identification and classification, b) behaviour analysis of fish and amphibians in aquatic environments, c) discovery, analysis and fusion of environmental data. In addition, Prof. Guoping Qiu from the School of Computer Science, University of Nottingham, delivers the keynote for EMR2015 workshop entitled: "Grass, Scrub, Tree, Random Forest and Human in the Loop-Automatic habitat classification based on digital photographs".
