A Novel Optical Flow Algorithm Based on Background Registration

Analyzed is the influence on the precision of optical flow algorithms taken by the offset between the two frames.The precision declines with the increasing offset between the two frames.In this view,a novel optical flow detection solution based on background registration is proposed.This solution calculates the approximate offset between the two frames using background registration and further calculates the comparative optical flow based on the offset,which helps to ensure a good input for optical flow algorithm and improves the precision.The final optical flow filed is synthesized by the accumulation between approximate background offset and comparative motion vectors.Experimental results show the proposed solution has better performance in the precision than the classical solution without background registration.
