BioGasol's process concept for production of cellulosic ethanol - status and perspectives

BioGasol is a combined biotechnology and engineering company in the field of renewable energy. The core competences lie in the development and design of process technologies for the production of bioethanol and other energy products from lignocellulosic feedstocks. BioGasol has developed proprietary technologies within pretreatment and C5 sugar fermentation for maximum ethanol production. The technology can be used for green field plants and for Add-on plants to existing 1 st generation bioethanol plants. Using the yields obtained in the pilot plant U$1.32 per gallon is a valid estimate of the Minimum Ethanol Sales Price (MESP) for a commercial Green Field plant and BioGasol believes that its current development projects will reduce the MESP to about U$1.1 per gallon. BioGasol is currently designing a feedstock flexible demonstration plant on the island of Bornholm in Denmark that will demonstrate how the process concept can be cost efficient adapted to the low cost available feedstocks in the region.
