Digital rights management (DRM) systems provide a means for content providers and distributors to address the unauthorized copying issue, in order to meet consumer’s expectations, DRM approaches and related services and applications upon which they are based should coexist in an environment that supports interoperability. In this paper, we propose a General-Schema (G-Schema) approach to DRM interoperability problem, the concept model of G-Schema is based on the ChinaDRM metadata standard draft, rights information can derive from G-Schema to generate specific DRM licenses based on different rights expression mechanism; Since Windows Media Rights Management (WMRM) is one of the most widely-used systems for protecting digital content, a testing project is also discussed for providing example implementation of interoperability with WMRM via G-Schema.
