Nondestructive evaluation of the steel bridge infrastructure

A decade of monitoring the State of Connecticut's steel bridge infrastructure is reported. This provided the State with information needed to allocate funds and resources in the repair, renovation and replacement of different bridges. Monitoring was based on determination of strains, using portable field testing equipment. All individual studies were carried out over relatively short time periods. The history of the programme is presented, with information on the monitoring equipment and a review of the results from fourteen different bridges studies.
