RSS-Based Target Tracking with Unknown Path Loss Exponent

This paper studies the problem of target tracking by using the received signal strength (RSS) with unknown path loss exponent. The path loss exponent is estimated by using the least square approach and the unscented Kalman filter is used to address the nonlinear filtering problem. A numerical example and an experiment involving localization of a mobile robot are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
