A New Synthetic Paper - MPSP for Insulation

A new synthetic paper MPSP having high breakdown properties has been developed. The synthetic paper is mainly comprised of polypropylene and is prepared using a stretching process, has a stratiform structure with many micro pores. The electrical and mechanical properties of the synthetic paper were measured and compared with those of cellulose paper and polypropylene film. The possibility of using this synthetic paper as an insulating material for electrical equipment was investigated, and the results indicate that the paper may be used as a substitute for cellulose paper.
