Study on approach of building domain ontology based on thesaurus

The approach based on an existing terminological-rich thesaurus is proposed,which can alleviate the amount of work involved in building domain ontology.A three-phase thesaurus-based approach for building domain ontology is expatiated by building a pomology ontology with the basis of agriculture science thesaurus,which consists of collecting and analyzing information on domain ontology,de-signing domain ontology in detail,and representing domain ontology.Designing in detail is the core step,converting the core terms and semantic relationships of the thesaurus into an ontology,and supplementing richer semantic relationships.
